WHO WE ARE
About us
WIA Youth ROOTS Mentoring was created in 2013, by a team of AmeriCorps VISTA's, as a component to the New England Farm Workers' Council WIA Youth HiSET program, formerly known as the GED program. WIA Youth works with at risk low-income teens and young adult’s age 16-21 that have left the traditional school setting. WIA provides online HiSET preparation as well as tutoring and guidance in planning for the next step in life.
HELP STRENGTHEN OUR COMMUNITY.
GIVE A HAND UP TO A YOUNG PERSON IN NEED.
WHERE YOU COME IN
Many of the students we serve lack the social, emotional, and professional guidance they need to take the “next step” in their lives. Volunteer mentors fill this void in the lives of their mentees, simply by being a friend and motivating resource. For young people faced with adversity, such bonds can have lasting and measurable influence. Our mentors and staff work to help marginalized young people identify life goals and guide them to the path of personal, professional, and social success.
